The segregation of African Americans in the United States Military came to an official end with President Truman’s  Executive Order 9981.  

The Fahy Commission which the President instituted to guide his decision had seven members, two of whom were from the Oberlin community: College President William Stevenson and Mr. E. W. Kenworthy, Oberlin College graduate.”
